Whispering Rise is dedicated to provided sanctuary for abused, neglected and abandoned potbelly pigs, provide humane education, and to offer and anthrozoological experience to visitors and adults.

Overview

Whispering Rise is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt, nonprofit animal sanctuary that is dedicated primarily to potbelly pigs.  All contributions go directly to supporting the animals.

We offer an intersection of animal welfare, humane education, anthrozoological experience and environmental education within the framework of sanctuary for abused, neglected and abandoned potbelly pigs.

The farm is accessible to those who want a volunteer or community service experience.  We offer an anthrozoological experience to children, youth, and adults who are looking for a spiritual or emotional connection to animals in need.

Description

We placed our first rescued pigs into the sanctuary in October 2011.
Whispering Rise is located on 6 acres in northern Baltimore County, Maryland.  Jeff is a long-time animal welfare, child welfare, and environmental activist.  He worked in child welfare programs for 30 years in Virginia and Maryland.  Our goal for Whispering Rise is to create a place where these three issues and interests can intersect for the benefit of people, animals, and the environment.
